Florida and Minnesota will look to secure the final spot in the WBIT Championship with a win on Monday evening in women’s basketball action.

The Women’s Basketball Invitational Tournament is winding down and only four teams remain. On Monday evening, the Florida Gators will take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis to battle it out for the final spot in the Championship game to be played on Wednesday. The Gators made it through to the semifinal round after beating Texas Tech in a narrow 67-63 victory on Thursday night at home. Liv McGill led all scorers with 22 points and Ra Shaya Kyle finished right on her tail with 21 points on the night. Kyle also finished the game with 12 rebounds to lead on the boards and earn a double-double. The team shot 41 percent from the field and 33 percent, but will look to improve on those numbers to get past the Gophers and earn a spot in the final.

The Golden Gophers bring an overall record of 23-11 into the semifinal game after beating Gonzaga in an 82-77 overtime thriller on Thursday night. Amaya Battle was dominant in the win and put up a career-high 35 points to power the Minnesota offense. Battle also led on the boards with 10 rebounds to earn a double-double. Grace Grocholski and Tori Mckinney joined Battle in double figures with 20 and 19 points, respectively, as the team finished the game shooting 43 percent from the field and 38 percent from long range.
