No. 3 Notre Dame (14-2) survived its first test without star guard Hannah Hidalgo on Sunday and prepares to host No. 17 Georgia Tech (15-2) on Thursday at Purcell Pavilion in South Bend, Indiana. Hidalgo hurt her ankle in the Fighting Irish’s win over Wake Forest on Jan. 9 and sat out her first career game on Sunday. Her status is uncertain heading into Thursday’s matchup. The Yellow Jackets lost their first two games of the season last week while Notre Dame comes in on a nine-game winning streak.

Liatu King stepped up with 23 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Fighting Irish to a 67-58 win at Clemson on Sunday as they improved to 5-0 in Atlantic Coast Conference play. Olivia Miles delivered 17 points and nine assists. Hidalgo leads the team with 25.7 points per game, with Miles averaging 16.6 points and 7.3 assists and King posting 13.5 points and 11.3 boards a night.

Georgia Tech came back from an early double-digit deficit to lead in the third quarter but ran out of gas in a 69-60 loss at Louisville on Sunday. Kara Dunn scored 18 points while Tonie Morgan tossed in 13. Dunn averages 16.0 points and 6.4 rebounds, with Dani Carnegie chipping in with 15.1 points per game and Morgan putting up 13.1 points and 5.2 assists an outing.

Notre Dame is 18-1 all-time against the Yellow Jackets and have won the last five meetings, including an 85-48 win at Georgia Tech on Feb. 1. Niele Ivey is 103-34 in her fifth season leading the Fighting Irish, with three straight trips to the Sweet Sixteen. Nell Fortner returned to coaching with the Yellow Jackets in 2019 and is 101-66 in her sixth year.
