In the second round of the Women’s NCAA Tournament, the top-seeded University of South Carolina Gamecocks will take on the ninth-seeded Indiana University Hoosiers. The Gamecocks and Hoosiers will meet for the second year in a row in tournament play. Last year, the Hoosiers won in the first round meeting with a narrow 79-75 victory. The Hoosiers made it through to the second round after beating the eighth-seeded Utah Utaes in a 76-68 win. Indiana was led by Yarden Garzon who finished the game with 17 points and seven rebounds. Four other Hoosiers scored in double figures with Shay Ciezki adding 16 points and Chloe Moore-McNeil contributing 12 points and eight assists. On the season, Garzon leads the team with 14.6 points per game. Sydney Parrish leads the team with 5.5 rebounds per game.

The Gamecocks opened tournament play against 16th-seeded Tennessee Tech and won handily in a 108-48 victory. Dawn Staley continues to lead a dominant team this season with her incredible recruiting abilities. In the first round win, Joyce Edwards came off the bench to lead the scoring efforts with 22 points. MiLaysia Fulwiley also came off the bench to score 15 points and added five assists and a team-high four blocks. The Gamecocks had 12 players score in the opening round game and have a +23.8 scoring margin against all opponents with a +20.0 margin of victory over ranked opponents.

South Carolina went all the way in the tournament last year and beat Iowa in the Championship game 87-75. Dawn Staley will look to earn her fourth NCAA title.
