La Salle will travel north this week to take on UMass in an Atlantic 10 women’s basketball matchup on Wednesday.

Atlantic 10 women’s basketball action will continue on Wednesday morning with a matinee game between the visiting La Salle Explorers and the home side UMass Minutewomen at the Mullins Center. The Explorers will look to get back on the winning side of things on Wednesday after suffering five straight losses to bring their overall record to 7-11 and their conference record to 1-4 for a spot in 13th place in the A-10 standings. On Saturday, the team traveled to take on second place Dayton, falling in a tough 81-79 defeat. Ashleigh Connor led the team offensively with 18 points and pulled down nine rebounds to just miss a double-double in the loss. Ayisse Magassa did earn a double-double with a team-high 10 rebounds to go along with 12 points, but the Explorers still game up short.

The Minutewomen are currently in eighth place in the Atlantic 10 standings with a conference record of 3-2 and an overall record of 8-8 so far. The team picked up a 67-58 win over St. Bonaventure on the road on Sunday and will look to carry that momentum into Wednesday’s game. Megan Olbrys led the Minutewomen in scoring with 18 points while Yahmani Mckayle and Chinenye Odenigbo joined her in double figures with 14 and 12 points, respectively. Olbrys also led the team on the boards with 10 rebounds, earning her fifth double-double of the season.

UMass and La Salle have met 26 times in their history and the Minutewomen hold a slight 15-11 advantage in the all-time series. The teams met three times last season which saw the Explorers winning the first two matchups before falling in the third at the Atlantic 10 tournament in a 54-49 defeat.
