Women’s college basketball showcases two of the armed service programs with Army hosting Navy.

Over the last nine games Navy (14-4) has started to play its best basketball of the season. The Midshipmen have won two games in a row and eight of the last nine to rise to the top of the Patriot League. Right behind them in the standings is Army (13-4), who are 5-2 in conference play, just one game behind the Midshipmen. This matchup between two of the armed services programs will go a long way this season in who wins the conference this season and make it to the NCAA Tournament. Sophomore Zanai Barnett-Gay has started the season on fire and is playing like a potential conference player of the year for the Midshipmen.

This season Barnett-Gay is averaging 19.7 points, 8.1 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.3 steals per game. She has put the Midshipmen on her back this season after a strong freshman campaign leading them to the top of the Patriot League.

In seven conference games this season Barnett-Gay has upped her game even more averaging 20.7 points per game. She has scored 20 or more points in five conference games, coming off a 26 point effort in the MIdshipmen’s last win.

For the Black Knight’s this season senior Trinity Hardy has been the key to the offense. She is averaging a career-high 13.8 points per game while anchoring a tough defense with 2.5 steals per game. Her matchup with Barnett-Gay will likely decide who comes out with a win in this Patriot League matchup.
