    Navy looks to maintain its spot at the crowded top of the Patriot League when it visits Boston University on Wednesday in women’s college basketball.

    Navy (13-4) picked up a dramatic win at home on Saturday to maintain its spot in a four-way tie atop the Patriot League. The Midshipmen hit the road on Wednesday, visiting Boston University (7-10) at Case Gym in women’s college basketball. Navy is 5-1 in league play, sharing the top spot with Army, Holy Cross and Lehigh. The Terriers have lost three straight and are 1-5 in Patriot action. The Middies haven’t been to the NCAA tournament since 2013, while BU’s only trip to the NCAAs came in 2003. The Terriers did participate in the 2023 WNIT.

    Zanai Barnett-Gay knocked down a layup with six seconds left in regulation to lift Navy to a 49-47 win over visiting Bucknell on Saturday after the Bison had come back from a 13-point deficit. Julianna Almeida and Kyah Smith scored 11 points each in the win, while Barnett-Gay and Maren Louridas each snared 10 rebounds. Barnett-Gay averages 19.3 points and 8.0 rebounds and is the team’s lone double-digit scorer.

    Boston University led by as much as 12 points in the third quarter before visiting Army roared back in the fourth, riding a 13-0 run to take control in a 59-52 win. Inés Monteagudo Pardo and Allison Schwertner led the Terriers with 11 points each. Alex Giannaros is the only player on the club averaging double figures as 14.2 points per game, while Schwertner gets 4.8 boards a night.

    BU leads the all-time series 11-10 after winning the last seven meetings, including a two-game sweep last season that included a 62-51 win at home on Jan. 3, 2024 and a 69-60 win in Annapolis, Maryland on Feb. 17.
