The biggest game on the women’s college basketball schedule this weekend is a rematch of last year’s Final Four. Top-ranked South Carolina and ninth-ranked NC State both look to remain undefeated after winning their first games of the season. The Gamecocks are coming off winning their third National Championship in eight seasons and are the favorites to win it again this season. This season the Gamecocks are led by seniors Te-Hina Paopao and Bree Hall, juniors Raven Johnson and Chloe Kitts and dynamic sophomore MiLaysia Fulwiley. This year’s Gamecocks are not built around one player or a star, rather a deep and talented roster that enter this season as the top-ranked team in the country.

In the season-opener Kitts led the team with 19 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. It was a career-night all around for Kitts as she finished with seventh double-double, tied her career-high in rebounds and snared five offensive rebounds, the most in her career to date.

The bench stepped up for the Gamecocks with sophomore Tessa Johnson scoring 15 points on 3-6 shooting from three while freshman Joyce Edwards added 10 points and seven rebounds in her debut. 

For the Wolfpack they kicked off the season with a 25 point win over East Tennessee State. Zoe Brooks led four players in double-figures with 21 points, four rebounds and four assists. Aziaha James nearly finished with a double-double (17 points and nine rebounds) while Saniya Rivers and Madison Hayes each scored 11 points.
