Top-seeded FDU already ticketed for its first NCAA tourney berth with No. 2 seed Stonehill ineligible to advance

The Northeast Conference tournament championship game on Sunday won’t have the level of drama many such games do. That’s because No. 1 seed FDU (28-3) has already clinched the conference’s automatic NCAA tournament bid before it steps on the court against second-seeded Stonehill (17-14) on Sunday at Bogota Savings Bank Center in Hackensack, New Jersey. The Skyhawks are still transitioning from Division II and are not eligible for postseason play until 2026-27. The Knights stormed through the NEC with a perfect 16-0 record and have won 21 straight games while Stonehill finished 11-5 in conference play.
