On Thursday night, New Hampshire will travel to Boston to take on Northeastern at the Cabot Center in a non-conference game. The Huskies are in search of their first win as the they come into Thursday’s contest with a record of 0-2 so far. The Huskies opened the season with a game against cross-town rival Boston University, losing 60-48 on the road before heading to Chestnut Hill to take on another rival in Boston College, falling in a big 92-46 defeat. Against the Eagles, the team struggled to produce offense, only shooting 36% from the field and 26% from the three-point line. Abby Jegede led the team with 13 points, but no other Huskies scored in double digits resulting in low points from the team. Oralye Kiefer pulled down a team-high seven rebounds, but it she struggled to compete under the basket with some very strong Eagles.

The Wildcats bring a record of 2-1 into Thursday’s game, having opened the season with two wins against Worcester State and UMass before suffering their first loss on Monday night on the road.

The team traveled to Merrimack and dropped a tough 59-49 game. Eva Dechent led all scorers with 16 points, but as the only Wildcat in double figures, the team just did not produce enough offense to compete with the Warriors. Maggie Cavanaugh finished the game with a team-high eight rebounds to go along with six points. The Wildcats will need to improve upon its shooting is they finished the game shooting 34.69% from the field and just 15.38% from beyond the arc, going just two for 13. The team also struggled from the line, shooting just 65%.

New Hampshire and Northeastern have met 11 times in their history and the Huskies currently hold a 6-5 edge. Last year, the teams met in Durham and the game resulted in a 51-41 home win for the Wildcats.
