    The No. 3-seeded North Carolina will take on the No. 4-seeded Oregon State in the first round of the NCAA Women’s Championship Tournament in Regional 2 in Birmingham on Saturday afternoon at Carmichael Arena in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The No. 3-seeded Tar Heels will take their home court after ending their season with a 27-7 overall record and a 13-5 record against teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference. They opened their conference tournament against Boston College in the second round before bowing out in the semifinals against No. 7-ranked NC State.

    They earned a No. 3 seed from the selection committee after bouncing around the top 15 of the AP Top 25 for most of the season. They ended their regular season against Pepperdine before opening their conference tournament in the quarterfinals against San Francisco. They beat them followed by a two-point win over Gonzaga in the semifinal. In the final, they took down Portland.

    In the 59-46 win to secure an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, Catarina Ferreira led the way with a 16-point night on 5-of-12 shooting. Forward Kelsey Rees leads the team in scoring this season, averaging 12.8 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game while shooting 41% from the field.
