FGCU looks to win its 24th straight game on Saturday aftrnoon when it plays Oklahoma in the first round of the NCAA Women’s Tournament.

The FGCU Eagles play the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday afternoon in the women’s NCAA Tournament first round. The Eagles come into Firday on a 23-game winning streak and 30-3 on the season. They lost their first two games of the season and then won seven in a row. They lost their third and final game of the season on Dec. 16 when they fell 58-49 to Montana State. They have been great since and it helped them go perfect in the ASUN regular season. They then swept through the conference tournament and they earned a ticket to the tournament by beating Central Arkansas 68-51 in the finals. The Eagles have been led by Emani Jefferson who is averaging 14.4 points per game. Maddie Antenucci and Lauryn Taylor are also averaing in double figures at 10.8 and 10.1 points per game respectively.

The Sooners will look to slow down the trio as they try and snap the Eagles’ long winning streak and advance to the second round. The Sooners come into Saturday looking to bounce back from a 93-75 loss to South Carolina in the SEC Tournament.

The loss dropped them to 25-7 on the seaosn. Six of their seven losses have come against SEC opponents and each of them were ranked.

The Sooners have been led by Raegan Beers who is averaging 17.5 points and 8.9 rebounds per game, both team highs.

Payton Verhulst and Sahara Williams have also been good as they are averaging 14.9 and 10.8 points per game respectively.
