Rhode Island travels to New Jersey on Wednesday to take on Princeton ahead of conference play in college basketball.
The Rhode Island Rams will look to break a four-game losing streak on Wednesday night when the team takes on the Princeton Tigers at Jadwin Gymnasium in a non-conference matchup. The Rams have struggled recently and bring an overall record of 4-7 into Wednesday night’s contest. The team’s last time out was on Saturday in a game against Harvard, which resulted in a tough 60-48 loss on the road.
Sophie Phillips was the only Ram in double figures, finishing the game with 17 points. She went 6-for-8 from the field, 4-for-5 from three-point range and 1-for-2 from the line. Harsimran “Honey” Kaur dominated on the boards with an 11-rebound performance, but only added seven points to the scoreboard. The Rams shot 39 percent from the field and 38 percent from beyond the arc while sinking five of their seven foul shots.

The Tigers also bring a losing streak into Wednesday night’s game, but their’s is slightly better at two games with an overall record just above .500 at 5-4. On Sunday, the team finished its road trip with a close 79-76 loss to Utah. The Utes outscored the Tigers 48-35 between the second and third quarters and the deficit was too much to make up. Skye Belker scored a game-high 24 points, while Fadima Tall and Ashley Chea also finished in double digits with 13 and 11 points, respectively. The Tigers shot an impressive 54 percent from field goal range and 44 percent from beyond the arc.
Wednesday marks the sixth meeting between the two teams and Rhode Island holds a slight 3-2 advantage in the all-time series. The last meeting between the two schools was the first upset in program history for the Rams, as Rhode Island beat then-No. 25 Princeton in a narrow 60-58 victory at home.
