Mountain West play will continue on Wednesday night as San Diego State and Nevada meet in women’s basketball action.

The San Diego State Aztecs will travel to Las Vegas on Wednesday to take on the Nevada Wolfpack in a Mountain West matchup in women’s college basketball. The Aztecs come into Wednesday’s conference contest with an overall record of 12-4 and a conference record of 1-2 for a two-way tie for fourth place in the standings. The team opened Mountain West play with a win against Boise State, but has lost the last two with the most recent being a 68-59 loss to New Mexico on Saturday. Veronica Sheffey led the Aztecs in scoring with 14 points and Kim Villalobos joined her in double digits with 10 points, but as the only two players in double figures, the team could not keep New Mexico within reach.

The Wolfpack are sitting just above the Aztecs in the standings with a record of 2-1 in conference play, but have struggled overall at just 7-9 on the season. On Saturday, the team traveled to Colorado to take on Air Force and snuck away with a narrow 58-55 victory. Lexie Givens and Victoria Davis each scored 15 points to lead Nevada’s scoring and Givens also led on the boards, pulling down 10 rebounds to earn a double-double in the win. The team shot 39 percent from the floor and 46 percent from beyond the arc, but delivered from the line, going 10-for-12.

Nevada and San Diego State have met a total of 29 times and the Aztecs hold a slight advantage in the all-time series at 15-14. Last year’s meeting was decided by just one point, but went in Nevada’s favor with a 72-71 victory.
