No. 2 South Carolina visits No. 4 Texas in an SEC heavyweight battle while Tennessee looks to build on UConn win at LSU
No. 2 South Carolina (22-1) makes its first trip to Austin, Texas, since December 2016 as it takes on a new Southeastern Conference rival on Sunday in No. 4 Texas (23-2). The Gamecocks have won 17 straight games while the Longhorns have taken seven in a row since losing at South Carolina on Jan. 12. South Carolina leads the SEC at 10-0, with Texas and LSU a game back at 9-1. But there is another big game on the SEC slate on Sunday.
No. 19 Tennessee (17-5) comes off its first win over UConn since 2007 and returns to conference play on Sunday when it visits No. 6 LSU (24-1). The Tigers have won four straight since a loss at South Carolina on Jan. 24 and beat the Lady Vols in Knoxville on Jan. 9. Tennessee is trying to get back to the .500 mark in SEC, sitting in ninth place at 4-5.
In their first meeting, the Gamecocks opened a 17-point halftime lead en route to a 67-50 win over Texas and South Carolina comes off a 74-42 rout at Georgia on Thursday night. Joyce Edwards paces the team at 12.4 points per game, with MiLaysia Fulwiley getting 11.4 points a night and Chloe Kitts averaging 9.6 points and 7.5 rebounds.

LSU has won the last two meetings with Tennessee, which last won at Baton Rouge in January 2021. Kailyn Gilbert’s bucket with 0.9 seconds left propelled the Tigers to an 89-87 win in their first meeting and they come off a 71-60 win at Missouri on Thursday night. Flau’Jae Johnson gets 19.9 points per game, with Aneesah Morrow averaging 18.4 points and 14.2 rebounds.
