The Penn State Nittany Lions look to remain undefeated in women’s college basketball against St. John’s.

This season the best team that has not found its way into the Top 25 rankings might be Penn State (8-0). The Nittany Lions are undefeated while riding the 11th best scoring offense in the country. Junior Gracie Merkle is coming off one of the best games of her career with 31 points in an overtime win over Drexel. She is dominating in her first season with the Nittany Lions averaging 21.1 points and 9.5 rebounds per game on 64.5% shooting from the field.

Sophomore Moriah Murray has made a massive jump in her second year on the court for the Nittany Lions as a three-point assassin. She is averaging 17.6 points, 3.0 assists and 2.3 rebounds per game on 44.4% shooting from three. Last season in 35 games off the bench Murray totaled 150 points and 41 made three-pointers. Through eight games she is at 141 points and 36 made three-pointers.

For the Red Storm this season they slow down the pace to a crawl allowing the 10th fewest shots, ninth fewest free-throw attempts and the fifth fewest points per game on the defensive end.
