Tennessee takes on Lucy Olsen and the 17th-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes in the inaugural Champions Classic double-header.
After rolling through its first eight games, 17th-ranked Iowa (8-0) faces its toughest non-conference game of the season in the Champions Classic. The Hawkeyes take on Tennessee (6-0) who are also undefeated to start the season. The Volunteers boast the top-scoring offense in the country setting the stage for what could be an offensive explosion against the Hawkeyes. One of these teams has the opportunity to remain undefeated early in the season in women’s college basketball. This is the first game in an epic double-header in women’s college basketball followed by a game between second-ranked UConn and 22nd-ranked Louisville who play in the second game in the inagural Champions Classic in the Barclays Center.

The driver of the offense this season for the Volunteers has been sophomore transfer Talaysia Cooper. As a freshman with South Carolina she played in 24 games scoring 69 total points. This season Cooper is averaging 19.7 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game as one of the best scorers in the country.
She sets up a fantastic duel with Lucy Olsen, who after transferring from Villanova has taken over the Hawkeyes offense. This season she is more of a playmaker averaging 17.3 points, 5.3 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game. Copper and Olsen will both try to keep their teams undefeated here in the Champions Classic.
This is the toughest test for both teams with non-conference play starting to wind down sending teams into conference play in the coming weeks.
