The Volunteers scored 101 points in their first round against 12th seeded South Florida. That marked the seventh time this season they have scored over 100 points (7-0). This season the Volunteers are undefeated when scoring at least 90 points (13-0) as well.

In the first round Cooper came off the bench for 20 points leading four players in double-figures and an offense that featured 11 different players making at least one field goal. In the win the Volunteers made 16 three-pointers, a school record in the NCAA Tournament and set the SEC record (328) for made three-pointers in a season.

For the Buckeyes in the first round they rolled past 13th seeded Montana State 71-51. All five starters scored in double-figures led by Taylor Thierry with 16 points. Freshman Jaloni Cambridge stuffed the stat sheet with 12 points, six steals, six assists and five rebounds in her NCAA Tournament debut.
