In the last quarterfinal matchup of the night, No. 11-seeded Xavier will take on No. 3-seeded Seton Hall in the Big East Tournament on Saturday night at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. The Seton Hall Pirates are 21-8 overall this season and earned their seeding through a 13-5 record against teams in the conference. They fell three games behind No. 23-ranked nationally Creighton and five games behind No. 3 ranked UConn. Ironically, they ended their season against this same team and won by two points, 59-57.

They even won that game on the road. However, because of their seeding, Seton Hall entered the tournament in the quarterfinals, so this will be their first tournament game. Faith Masonius leads the team in scoring this season, averaging 15.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game. She is followed by Savannah Catalon, who averages 14.2 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.

The Xavier Musketeers were the last-placed team in the conference this season, earning them the last seed at No. 11. They are 7-23 overall this season and finished 1-17 in conference play, three games behind Georgetown, the next closest team at 4-14. They opened the tournament in the first round with a matchup agianst DePaul.

They pulled off the unlikely upset, beating the No. 6 seed by seven points, 80-73. Meri Kanerva dropped 28 points to tie a game-high on 7-of-11 shooting from the field with a team-high four assists. Aizhanique Mayo, who averages 7.3 points per game, dropped 27 as well, with three rebounds. The two combined for 55 of the team’s 80 points.
