In addition to going for a record 20th Beanpot title, the Huskies will also be trying to win their third tournament championship in a row. No team has picked up a Women’s Beanpot three-peat since Boston College from 2016-18. Last year Northeastern beat Boston University 2-1 in overtime to claim the title, while the year before the Huskies beat Boston College 2-1 in the Championship. That was the last meeting between these teams in Beanpot play.
Northeastern comes into this game on a four-game winning streak. The Huskies last loss came back on Nov. 30 – against Boston College. In the only meeting so far this season between these two teams, the Eagles shutout the Huskies 3-0 in a conference game at Matthews Arena.
Boston College last played exactly a week ago. In their most recent game, the Eagles hosted New Hampshire and came away with a 4-0 win. Between that and a win over Maine last weekend, the Eagles have outscored their opponents 9-0 over the last two games.
