No. 9 UConn looks to complete a Hockey East sweep when it hosts Vermont on the back end of a back-to-back on Saturday.

The No. 9 UConn Huskies (9-3-1) improved to 4-1-0 in Hockey East Association play on Friday night and on Saturday will look to close out a weekend sweep when they host the Vermont Catamounts (5-8-2) again at Toscano Family Ice Forum in Storrs, Connecticut. The Huskies have 11 points in the conference race, good for a fourth-place tie despite playing the fewest conference games of any team thus far. Vermont fell to 2-4-1 and is tied with Providence for eighth in Hockey East with seven points.

Julia Pellerin registered a hat trick on Friday night to lead UConn to a 4-0 victory in the first game of the weekend set with Vermont. Pellerin opened the scoring on the power play at 8:07 of the first period, added an even-strength tally at 8:41 of the second and got another power-play marker at 16:53 of the second. Brooke Campbell also scored in the second period for the Huskies while Tia Chan made 18 saves to post the shutout.

The Catamounts were outshot 34-18 in the loss and won only 14 of 33 faceoffs while also going 0-for-3 on the power play. Vermont killed only one of three of UConn’s player-advantage opportunities. Oona Havana and Morgann Skoda enter Saturday sharing the Vermont team lead with five goals each, with Kaylee Lewis and Stella Retrum checking in with four goals and a team-best nine points apiece.

The win by the Huskies was their fourth in a row over Vermont. Kyla Josifovic leads the team with six goals and 14 points while Pellerin now has five tallies on the season. Chan improved to 8-3-1 in 12 starts, posting two shutouts to go with a .954 save percentage and 1.41 goals-against average. Ellie Simmons, who took the loss on Friday night, is now 2-5-2 with two shutouts in nine starts for the Catamounts, putting up a .901 save percentage and 2.75 GAA.
