The second quarterfinal of the women’s college lacrosse tournament features the Duke Blue Devils and Florida Gators.

Four-seed Florida is rolling heading into the quarterfinals of the 2025 NCAA Tournament in women’s college lacrosse. The Gators have won 16 straight between the regular season, conference tournament and into the NCAA Tournament. That will be tested against a Duke team that entered the tournament unseeded and as a major underdog, but have made the most noise through the first two rounds. In the Blue Devils first two games of the NCAA Tournament they have upset both James Madison and five-seeded Virginia by a combined 34-19. They scored 17 points in both games and routed both opponents to set up this quarterfinal with two of the hottest teams in the country.

The Blue Devils have scored the second most goals in the tournament through the first two rounds after a disappointing ending to the regular season. In the final game of the regular season and the ACC Tournament the Blue Devils were held to 13 total points in back-to-back losses.

For the Gators, they have won 16 straight games after a modest 3-2 start to the season. During this winning streak they have won against six ranked opponents. The Gators finished the season ranked fourth in the country as well as the Big 12 regular season and tournament champions.

Last season the Gators made the programs second semifinal, but fell short of an appearance in the championship game. They are one win away from getting back to that same position to play either Princeton or top-seed North Carolina.
