Second-seed Boston College faces off with seven-seed Yale in the third quarterfinal of the NCAA Tournament in women’s college lacrosse.

Heading into the quarterfinals of the 2025 NCAA Tournament of women’s college lacrosse Boston College is looking to make a statement. The Golden Eagles entered the tournament as the two-seed after a nearly perfect season. The reigning women’s college lacrosse champions started the NCAA Tournament with a 10-7 win over Stony Brook. They will face a much tougher challenge against seven-seed Yale who were eliminated in this round last season. That was the program’s best finish in the NCAA Tournament, which the Bulldogs look to surpass this season. The winner of this game will advance to the semifinals to take on either three-seed Northwestern or unseeded Penn.

In the first two rounds of this year’s tournament the Bulldogs took care of business against two quality opponents. The Bulldogs beat Albany 12-9 in the first round before surviving 9-8 in the second round against Syracuse.

Getting to the semifinals will require the Bulldogs to pull off one of the biggest upsets in women’s college lacrosse history. The Golden Eagles are the reigning champions and have only lost two matches all season. Both to the top-seed in the tournament who are on the other side of the bracket.

They have also made the championship game in each of the last seven seasons. During this historic run the Golden Eagles won their first two women’s lacrosse championships and have become the standard bearer in the sport.
