On Thursday night, Koskinen Stadium will play host to home side Duke and visiting No. 2 North Carolina as the teams meet for the 53rd time in the program’s storied history. The team started the season with a loss to Big Ten powerhouse Ohio State but held the Buckeyes to just one goal before going on to beat Nebraska 3-0. The Blue Devils are now 2-1 overall and have had a week off since their second win of the season, a 4-0 victory over UNC Wilmington after their game against Tennessee was canceled on Sunday. Four different players tallied goals against the Seahawks as Kat Rader, Cameron Roller, Devin Lynch and Maggie Graham each found the back of the net. Three different goalkeepers saw time between the pipes with the shutout being credited to Leah Freeman, her second of the young season.

The Tar Heels have gotten off to a strong start this year and are currently undefeated at 6-0, outscoring their opponents 16-6. Most recently, the team welcomed Seton Hall to Dorrance Field and played to a 2-0 victory in front of a home crowd of 1200 fans. Co-captains Tessa Dellarose and Bella Sember each notched their third goal of the season as Dellarose netted the game-winner in the 23rd minute of play and Sember added a bit of insurance in the 58th minute. Clare Gagne earned the shutout in net, her third in a row, after facing six shots and making four saves.
