Ivy League soccer continues on Sunday for Harvard and Cornell when the teams meet in Cambridge.

On Sunday afternoon, Cornell will take a trip to Massachusetts to play Harvard as the teams look to move up in the Ivy League standings. The Crimson are still in search of their first conference win as they enter the game with a conference record of 0-2-1 and an overall record of 4-2-5. On Wednesday night, the team play Dartmouth on the road with the game resulting in a 1-1 draw. Audrey Francois was responsible for Harvard’s lone goal, finishing a rebounded cross with her head to tie the game up with 15 minutes left to play. The team nearly scored the go-ahead goal with only six minutes remaining, but the ball just barely deflected off of the crossbar to keep the score even. Rhiannon Stewart made seven saves in net after seeing 13 to help her team put a point toward its conference tally.

The Big Red is tied with the Crimson in the Ivy League standings and also has a record of 1-2 in conference play. Overall, the team is 2-6-4 and is in search of another win to inch closer to that coveted .500 record. On Wednesday, Cornell took on conference-leading Columbia, falling in a tough 4-1 game. The Big Red was forced to play from behind since the Lions scored twice in the first 23 minutes of play. In the 25th minute, Ava Laden was able to break through the defense and score an unassisted goal to cut the lead in half. Just before the half, Columbia went back up by two and the final goal was scored in the first 15 minutes of the second half. Erica Fox played the full 90 minutes in net for the Big Red and made two saves, but it ultimately wasn’t enough to hold off the strength of the Lions’ offense.

Last year, Cornell hosted Harvard for their conference matchup in New York, but the Big Red fell in a 3-1 defeat in front of a home crowd. The Crimson now leads the all-time series between the two programs 29-3-9.
