Regular season play concludes on Thursday night for Miami and Florida State as the teams meet in Coral Gables.

The end of regular season play has arrived and on Thursday night, Miami will host the defending national champion No. 23 Florida State Seminoles in its final game of the season. The Hurricanes are currently sitting in 14th place in the ACC standings, therefore, they will not be able to qualify for postseason play even with a win against Florida State on Thursday. The team is currently 1-5-3 in conference play and 5-7-4 overall. The team’s most recent game resulted in a tough 3-0 loss to Boston College on Sunday. Despite the Hurricanes outshooting the Eagles 16-10, they just could not get any of their five shots on goal to make it past the BC goalkeeper. Claireese Foley had four shots put on her in net and she made one save in the loss.

The Seminoles have had a strong season and come into Thursday’s season finale with an overall record of 11-2-2 and a conference record of 6-2-1 which puts them in fourth place in the ACC standings. Florida State also brings a four-game win streak into Thursday’s contest with the most recent being a big 4-2 victory over No. 4 UNC on Friday. Both Jordynn Dudley and Salai Washington finished the game with a brace to lift the Seminoles past a very strong Tar Heels squad. In net, Addie Todd made three saves to help her team add another three points to its tally.

When these two teams met last season during conference play, Florida State earned a 2-0 victory at home on the way to a national title.
