Nebraska will look to pull off a huge upset over No. 15 Penn State at home on Sunday in Big Ten play.

In a midday matchup on Sunday, No. 15 Penn State will take on Nebraska at Hibner Stadium. The Cornhuskers bring an overall record of 4-6 and a conference record of 1-3 into Sunday’s conference contest. The team began Big Ten play with three straight losses, two of which were to ranked opponents in No. 17 Iowa and No. 5 Michigan State. The team picked up its first Big Ten win against Illinois on Thursday with a narrow 1-0 victory at home. Sarah Weber netted her seventh goal of the season and 39th career goal to boost her team to a win. Sami Hauk played a complete game in net, making two saves to earn her first shutout of the season. A win for the Huskers on Sunday could add an extra boost of momentum as the team hits the road next weekend for a game against Wisconsin.

The Nittany Lions will be looking to turn things around on Sunday as the team has now lost two games in a row to move to 8-3-1 overall and 2-2 in conference play. The team dropped a 1-0 decision to then-No. 5 Michigan State before losing to No. 18 Iowa in a 2-1 match on Thursday night. Amelia White scored in the first two minutes of play to give the Nittany Lions and early lead, but Iowa tied things up just two minutes later. In the 31st minute, the Hawkeyes found the back of the net once again. Iowa was able to hold a very strong Penn State offense to just two shots in the game, making it nearly impossible to find the equalizer. With the loss, Penn State dropped to eighth in the Big Ten standings.

Penn State leads the all-time series between the programs, 7-3-2, dating back to 2011. Most recently, PSU topped Nebraska 1-0 during the 2023 season.
