Big Ten play continues on Sunday for No. 17 Ohio State as the Buckeyes host the Wildcats of Northwestern.

On Sunday afternoon, Northwestern will look to earn its first Big Ten win on the road, but it will be a tall order against No. 17 Ohio State in front of their home crowd in Columbus. The Wildcats bring an overall record of 5-4-1 into Sunday’s contest with a conference record of 0-2 so far. On Thursday night, the team traveled to play No. 9 Penn State which resulted in a loss, but the Wildcats held the Nittany Lions to just one goal in a 1-0 defeat. The game was scoreless the entire first half, but Penn State came out fired up in the second half, scoring in the first five minutes. Reiley Fitzpatrick saw 14 shots in net and made three big saves to keep the game within reach. Northwestern was unable to find the equalizer in its two shots on frame and was forced to walk away without adding any points to its conference total.

The Buckeyes bring an overall record of 6-1-2 into Sunday’s game with the most recent being a 1-1 draw against No. 18 Iowa on Thursday at home to move to 1-0-1 in Big Ten play. Amanda Schlueter opened the scoring with a goal in the ninth minute of play after receiving service from Jadin Bonham. The Buckeyes held the lead until the 68th minute when the Hawkeyes were able to sneak one by Molly Pritchard in net. Prtichard made four saves to help her team earn a point and stay in the middle of the pack in the Big Ten standings.

The last time Northwestern and Ohio State met was during the 2022 campaign and the Wildcats earned a 2-0 victory. The Buckeyes now lead the all-time series record 17-8-3.
