Nicki Fraser and No. 2 seed UCLA will take the pitch against Gia Girman and No. 5 seed Rutgers on Sunday.

The No. 5-seeded Rutgers will take on the No. 2-seeded and No. 9 nationally-ranked UCLA in the championship game of the Big Ten Women’s Soccer Tournament at City Park hosted by the University of Minnesota on Sunday afternoon. The Bruins finished their regular season with a 15-3-3 record overall and an 8-1-2 record against teams from the Big Ten after the move from the Pac-12. They ended their regular season with a road loss to USC, 1-0, before entering the tournament.

Their first game of the Big Ten Tournament came against Penn State on Monday when they took a 1-0 win and advanced to the semifinals. Nicki Fraser scored the lone goal in that win, assisted by Paloma Daubert in the 36th minute. Their semifinal game proved just as easy, shutting out Washington 2-0, on Thursday. UCLA scored on an own goal ricocheted into the net off a defender’s leg in the third minute of the game. Ayo Oke scored the second goal in the 35th minute.

The Scarlet Knights ended their season with an 11-3-5 record overall and a 6-2-3 record against teams from the Big Ten. They ended their regular season with a 1-1 draw against Maryland before taking on the No. 16-nationally ranked Michigan State in the first round of the tournament. They were able to pick up a 2-1 win in overtime.

Gia Girman and Ashley Baran scored the two goals in the win with Baran’s goal being assisted by Girman. They moved on to take on nationally ranked No. 4 USC in the semifinals drawing 1-1 at the end of regulation and overtime forcing the game into penalty kicks. Rutgers advanced 3-0 on pk’s to move to the championship.
