A rivalry game will take place Thursday night as South Carolina hosts Clemson in women’s college soccer action.
On Thursday night, No. 25 Clemson will make the trip to Columbia to take on in-state rival South Carolina for the Palmetto Series. The Gamecocks will return home after a road trip to Ohio in which they played No. 16 Ohio State to a 1-1 draw and Miami (Ohio) to a 0-0 draw to stay undefeated. Against the Buckeyes, it was an all-out battle in the first half with both teams opting for quality opportunities to goal over quantity, resulting in two shots on frame for the Gamecocks to three shots on frame for the home side. The second half saw more intensity from both sides and Ohio State was finally able to notch a goal in the 70th minute. With five minutes remaining, Cuyler Zulauf scored her first career goal to even the score.

The team went on to play Miami (Ohio) and had plenty of offensive opportunities with 15 shots but were unable to sneak one in the net to take a win home to Columbia. The Gamecocks are now 2-0-2 and will look to pull off their first top-25 win of the season tonight.
The Tigers will look to make it five wins in a row to improve to 5-1 on the young season. Then-No. 5 Clemson opened up the year with a game against unranked Auburn, losing by a large deficit in a 4-0 defeat to significantly drop the program in the national rankings. It didn’t take long to bounce back, however, as the Tigers have won four straight, outscoring opponents 12-2 with the most recent win being a 3-1 win over Campbell on the road. Scoring opened in the 32nd minute with an own goal by Campbell before sophomore transfer Christian Brathwaite scored her first goal as a Tiger while freshman Kendall Bodak netted her second of the year to close out the Clemson scoring.
