Yale will look to get its third straight win on Thursday night against visiting Stony Brook.
On Thursday afternoon, Yale will welcome cross-state opponent Stony Brook to Reese Stadium for a non-conference matchup, as the Bulldogs seek their third win. The team comes into Thursday’s matchup with a record of 2-1 so far after dropping its season opener to Hofstra in a narrow 2-1 loss before beating St. John’s 1-0 and Oregon State 2-0 its last time out. Against the Beavers, the first 45 minutes were scoreless, but Ellie Rappole gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead just four minutes into the second half. 10 minutes later, Marz Akins made it a 2-0 game after tapping in a ball to the back post off of a set piece. Kyla Holmes earned the shutout in net, facing 14 shots and making two saves.

The Seawolves have had an opposite start to the season compared to their Thursday night opponent, as they opened the 2024 campaign undefeated through the first three games. In the team’s most recent outing, however, it picked up its first loss of the season with a 2-0 defeat in Philadelphia to La Salle University to drop to 2-1-1. The Explorers were able to sneak one by Nicolette Pasquarella to open the scoring in the 22nd minute and take a 1-0 lead. The Seawolves held off the attack for another 43 minutes before La Salle struck again to make it a 2-0 game. Despite outshooting the Explorers 17-11, the team was unable to find the back of the net and keep its unbeaten streak going.
Yale and Stony Brook last met in 2016 and the game resulted in a 4-0 win for the Bulldogs at home to bring the overall record between the two teams to 2-1-2. Tune in Thursday night to see which of these teams can break the tie and walk away with a win.
