On Sunday afternoon, No. 25 Auburn will make the trip to Starkville to play Mississippi State in an SEC match at Newell-Grissom Building. The Bulldogs are currently on a three match losing streak with the most recent being a four-set loss to No. 19 Florida, bringing their overall record to 7-6 and their conference record to 1-3. Against the Gators, Kailin Newsome led the offense with 12 kills and Arissa Smith finished right behind her with 11 kills. Erin Kline and Ceci Harness shared setting responsibilities with 21 and 20 assists, respectively. Defensively, Newsome and Mele Corral-Blagojevich each finished with eight digs.

The Tigers have been nearly unstoppable this season and have an overall record of 13-2 and a conference record of 3-1. The team suffered its first loss of the season its last time out with a four-set loss at the hands of Texas A&M. The Aggies held the Tigers to just .201 hitting which was led by Madison Scheer who finished the game with 13 kills on 40 swings. Kalei Edson finished the match with 19 assists, followed closely by Peyton Dunn who added 15 to the stat sheet. On defense, Alexis Dacosta was pummeled, but she held her own with 17 digs. Despite the loss, Lauren Dreves had a strong showing with 10 kills and 13 digs.

Mississippi State and Auburn met last during the regular season last year and the match stretched to a fifth set with the win going to the Bulldogs.
