Mountain West play continues for Colorado State with a road match at UNLV in women’s volleyball action. Watch free on Fubo.

On Saturday afternoon, UNLV will host first-place Colorado State at Cox Pavilion as the team looks to pull off the upset in front of a home crowd. The Rebels are currently in a three-way tie for fourth place in the Mountain West standings with a conference record of 3-3 and an overall record of 10-8. The team’s most recent match was played on Thursday night against Wyoming at home and the Cowgirls pulled off a straight-set win, holding the Rebels to a hitting percentage of just .146. UNLV struggled to produce offensively. Basia Latos led the hitters with nine kills, but with nobody making it into double figures, the Rebels were just overpowered. Defensively, the team could not handle the offensive onslaught from the Cowgirls who finished the game hitting .341. Olivia Mikkelson did the best she could at libero but only came up with a team-leading nine digs.

The Rams will look to break a two match losing streak on Saturday after dropping their most recent match to San Diego State on Thursday night in a five-set battle. The team is still alone at the top of the standings with a Mountain West record of 5-2 and an overall record of 9-8, but a loss to the Rebels on Saturday could see them dropping down to second.

Against the Aztecs, the Rams came out strong, winning the first two sets (25-19, 25-23), but San Diego State fought back to complete the reverse sweep (25-21, 25-20, 15-11). Malaya Jones led Colorado State’s offense with 24 kills, surpassing the 1,000 kill mark in the loss. Naeemah Weathers and Kennedy Stanford each added 14 kills to the stat sheet, but it wasn’t enough to get the job done. Stanford did end up finishing the game with a double-double with 10 digs and Emery Herman did the same with 51 assists and 16 digs, both team-leading numbers.

The last time UNLV and Colorado State met dates back to last season and the game went to five sets. The Rebels ended up pulling off the victory at home, battling back from a 2-1 deficit to win in five.
