No. 18 Florida State (7-1) looks to improve to 2-0 against ranked SEC opponent No. 16 Florida when it visits Gainesville on Tuesday in women’s college volleyball. The Gators have made 33 straight trips to the NCAA tournament since coach Mary Wise arrived in 1991, but are still seeking a breakthrough national championship after eight Final Fours and two losses in the championship match. The Seminoles have played in 14 of the last 15 NCAA tournaments and reached their lone Final Four in 2011. Florida State has won three straight matches since its lone loss at Auburn on Sept. 8.

The Seminoles are coming off a pair of wins in the Seminole Classic in Tallahassee, sweeping Florida Atlantic on Friday before beating UCF in four sets (25-16, 25-20, 23-25, 25-17) on Sunday. The ‘Noles posted a .267 attack percentage against the Knights, with Audrey Koenig notching 15 kills to go with five service aces and 15 digs.
Florida split a pair of matches in Atlanta last week. It was swept by then-No. 15 Georgia Tech on Wednesday before recovering to sweep Alabama State 25-13, 25-12, 25-11 on Thursday afternoon. The Gators converted attacks at a .456 clip, led by Isabel Martin’s error-free 6-of-11 mark. Elli McKissock and AC Fitzpatrick each banged home five service aces in the win.
The Gators are 45-21 all-time against the Seminoles and have won the last two matches, as well as six of the last seven. Last year in Tallahassee, Florida came away with a tough five-set victory (8-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-17, 16-14).
