On Friday night, the team traveled to take on No. 24 Auburn, losing in four sets. Erykah Lovett finished at the top of the stat sheet for Georgia, finishing the match with 19 kills on 52 swings. Sophie Fischer was also in double digits with 14 kills on the night. The Crimson Tide has fared slightly better than today’s opponent overall with a record of 8-5, but they will be looking to break a four game losing streak today in front of a home crowd. The team has been off for a week, so hopefully the rest will find them refreshed and ready to take down the Bulldogs. Alabama also played Auburn in its last time out, losing in four sets, as well. Although the Crimson Tide outhit the Tigers .216 to .208, the team was unable to stay ahead of Auburn resulting in the loss. Sophie Agee led the team with 19 kills and Paris Thompson finished closely behind with 16 as Kayla Keshock and Callie Kieffer supported the hitters with 20 and 19 assists, respectively. Francesca Bertucci and Kieffer shared defensive responsibilities as they each added 14 digs to the stat sheet allowing Kieffer to earn a double-double despite the loss.

When these two teams met last season in Athens, Georgia made quick work of Alabama, winning in straight sets to bring the all-time record between the two programs to 34-27 in Georgia’s favor.
