Indiana will look to pull off a huge upset on Thursday night as the team travels to take on No. 1 Texas in women’s volleyball action.

On Thursday night, No. 1 Texas will welcome Indiana to Austin for a non-conference match at Gregory Gymnasium. The Hoosiers bring an undefeated record of 3-0 into their weekend in Austin with the hopes of pulling off a huge upset against the defending national champions. Indiana began its season with a pair of matches at the Kennesaw State Invitational, beating the hosts in straight sets, before playing Wichita State to a five-set victory. Returning home over the weekend, the team hosted UC Davis and pulled off a four-set win in front of a home crowd. Candela Alonso-Corcelles led the offensive efforts against the Aggies, recording 16 kills on 54 swings, while Avry Tatum added 12 kills to the stat sheet. Defensively, Ramsey Gary had 24 digs to keep the back court clear and allow team to keep its unbeaten streak going.

The Longhorns will look to bounce back from a tough five-set loss to No. 18 Minnesota on Labor Day at the State Farm Women’s College Volleyball Showcase to move to 1-1 on the year after opening the 2024 season with a four-set win over No. 3 Wisconsin. Against the Golden Gophers, Texas got off to a strong start, winning the first set 25-22 before Minnesota took sets two and three. The Longhorns brought their best play in the fourth set to win 25-13, but fell 15-7 in the fifth to lose the match and drop to 1-1.

Madisen Skinner leads the offense with 34 kills so far this season, but Jenna Wenaas is right behind her with 31 kills. The Longhorns will look to both women on Thursday night to continue their dominance offensively and get back in the win column with a defeat of the Hoosiers at home.
