The Wildcats are trying to get back over .500. after a tough stretch of matches lately. Kentucky has lost four games in a row and have only won one game away from home. The Wildcats looked like they had a win in the bag in their last match against Auburn but Kentucky let the Tigers complete a huge rally on Friday. Auburn was down 0-2 but had a furious comeback to win the match 3-2. Kentucky had a 22-match win streak over Auburn until Friday. This was also Kentucky’s SEC season opener that ended in a final match score of 21-25, 18-25, 25-16, 25-20, 18-16. This is the second time that Kentucky has lost a match after leading 2-0 this season. Before this season, the last time the Wildcats had that ignominious feat was in 2011. This will be a tough challenge on the road against the ranked Gators to get that momentum back.

That’s because the Gators are going for their sixth win in a row and are already 1-0 in conference play while holding a 5-1 record at home. Florida is coming off a really close match though beating Oklahoma in its first SEC match of the season 3-2. The Gators rallied in Norman, Okla. from a six-point deficit in the fifth set by a match final 25-21, 19-25, 18-25, 25-18, 15-13. It was the fourth comeback of the season for Florida with three Gators finishing with double-digit kills. Florida should have the advantage here this afternoon at home.
