A Midwest battle will take place Tuesday night as No. 7 Wisconsin hosts Marquette in a women’s volleyball matchup.

On Tuesday night, Marquette will travel to Madison to take on No. 7 Wisconsin in a non-conference matchup at the Kohl Center. The Golden Eagles come into the match with an overall record of 3-3 so far and are on a two game win streak. The team has now played three ranked teams, falling to both then No. 5 Stanford and then No. 13 Kansas to mark the first two losses of three in a row. Marquette was able to bounce back and picked up its first ranked win on Saturday with a four set victory over No. 24 Dayton and is now right on the cusp of breaking into the the top 25. Against the Flyers, Jenna Reitsma led the offense with 17 kills and Ella Foti added 18 digs to the stat sheet to lead the defensive efforts.

The Badgers will look to extend their win streak to four games on Tuesday night to improve to 4-3 on the year. Wisconsin opened the season with three straight losses with all of them being four-set defeats. The team’s schedule was one of the hardest in the nation to open with as the Badgers played No. 6 Louisville, followed by No. 1 Texas and rounded out the opening week against No. 5 Stanford. Despite facing early adversity, Wisconsin regrouped to earn its first ranked win against No. 23 Baylor in a five-set thriller before beating Milwaukee in straight sets its last time out. Julia Orzol dominated at the net and finished with 14 kills, but Devyn Robinson was right behind her, adding 13 kills to the sheet. Defensively, Lola Schumacher cleaned up with 16 digs on the evening.

Since the two programs resumed playing on an annual basis in 2017, Marquette’s lone victory was a five-set win over then-No. 4 Wisconsin in 2019 at UW Field House in Madison.
