For the fifth straight season Pittsburgh (32-1) is playing in the NCAA Tournament Regional Final. In each of the last four seasons the Panthers either lost in this spot or in the Final Four, falling just short of playing for their first National Championship. This season the Panthers entered the tournament as the number one overall seed and look to finally break through with a championship win. Up next is third-seeded Kentucky (23-7) who are playing great as a team through three matches in this tournament. The Wildcats have dropped just two sets through three matches and look to carry that momentum in the Regional Finals against the Panthers.

In those three matches the Wildcats knocked off Cleveland State (3-0), sixth-seeded Minnesota (3-1) and seventh-seeded Missouri (3-1) to get to this stage. They were tested in the last round despite winning three of four sets with the final three sets decided by three points or less.

For the Panthers they have looked unstoppable for 17 straight matches. They have won 17 straight matches since their last loss between the end of the regular season, the conference tournament and the NCAA Tournament.

In their three NCAA Tournament wins the Panthers took down Morehead State (3-0), eighth-seeded Oklahoma (3-0) and fourth-seeded Oregon (3-2). The win over the Ducks was just the teams fourth match that went to five sets in their most competitive win of the season.
