No. 1 seed Kentucky remains at home to host a regional bracket and takes on Cal Poly, the lone unseeded team to reach the Sweet 16.

The Kentucky Wildcats (27-2) look to continue their 24-match winning streak on Thursday afternoon when the top seed in the Lexington region hosts the Cal Poly Mustangs (27-7) in a regional semifinal matchup at Historic Memorial Coliseum. The Wildcats are unbeaten at home this season at 13-0 at got by Wofford and No. 8 seed UCLA to reach the Sweet Sixteen for the fourth straight year. Cal Poly is in the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 2007 and is the lone unseeded team remaining in the tournament after victories over fifth-seeded BYU and No. 4 seed USC in Los Angeles.

Kentucky thwarted a UCLA comeback bid, putting the Bruins away in four sets on Friday, 30-28, 25-16, 28-30, 25-17. Brooklyn DeLeye led the attack with 30 kills while Eva Hudson put down 27. Aria Thigpen and Lizzie Carr each notched four blocks, Trinity Ward served two aces, Molly Tuozzo made 15 digs and Kassie O’Brien popped up 60 assists.

The Mustangs recovered to put away USC in five sets on Friday night, 25-19, 25-20, 20-25, 14-25, 15-7. Emma Fredrick put her mark on the match with 17 kills to go with 17 digs. Annabelle Thalken and Kendall Beshear each logged 12 kills, with Thalken also getting four blocks and Beshear adding 14 digs and two aces. Emme Bullis logged 44 assists in the win.

The Wildcats and Cal Poly have met just once before, with Kentucky taking a straight-set win at the University of Utah Classic in Salt Lake City on Aug. 30, 2019. Kentucky is making its 21st straight NCAA tournament appearance while the Mustangs heard their name called on Selection Sunday for the first time since 2019.
