On Sunday afternoon, Ole Miss will travel to Athens to take on Georgia in an SEC matchup at Stegeman Coliseum. The Bulldogs are sitting right at .500 overall with a record of 7-7, but are just 1-3 in conference play so far for a spot toward the bottom of the league table. On Friday night, the team hosted South Carolina, playing to a five-set win in a back-and-forth battle. The Bulldogs took the first two sets (25-18, 25-18) before the Gamecocks fought back to tie things up at two sets apiece. Georgia rallied to earn a 15-9 win in the final set to snag its first SEC victory. Sophie Fischer led with a team-high 18 kills on offense and Erykah Lovett was right behind her with 17. Bianna Muoneke earned a double-double with 13 kills and 10 digs. Also in double figures on defense were Bailey Cox with a team-leading 18 digs and Lovett who also recorded a double-double with 10 digs. The team will look to carry that momentum into Sunday’s game, hoping to move up in the standings with a win.

The Rebels are having a strong seasons so far and are right in the middle of the SEC standings with a 2-2 record against conference foes and an overall record of 12-4. On Wednesday night, Ole Miss hosted Texas A&M, falling in four sets. The Aggies took the first set, but the Rebels turned things around to win set two. That’s where the luck ran out, however, and Texas A&M took the next two to earn the win. Nia Washington was the only Rebel in double digits for the hitters, finishing the match with 14 kills on 43 swings. Mokihana Tufono supported the hitters with 38 assists and added two kills to the stat sheet. Cammy Niesen was challenged on defense by the Texas A&M hitters, but held her own with 15 digs. Washington added 11 digs to earn a double-double in the loss.

When these two teams met last season during SEC play, the match stretched to five sets, ultimately going in the favor of the Bulldogs to improve their all-time record against the Rebels to 50-21.
