The Purdue Boilermakers and Louisville Cardinals battle it out on Thursday night in the Regional Semifinals of the NCAA Women’s Volleyball Tournament. The Boilermakers are the fourth see in the region, while the Cardinals are the top seed. The Boilermakers had a great season and come into Thursday 27-6 and on a five-match winning streak. The beat USC, Oregon and Washington to finish the regular season and then swept both Western Michigan and Loyola Chicago in the first two rounds of the tournament. The Broncos put up a good fight, but the Boilermakers won 25-21, 25-23, 25-22. The Ramblers played the Boilers tough through two sets, but got overwhelmed in the third set. The Boilermakers won that match 25-20, 25-21, 25-12. It was a good warmup for Purdue, but it has tough test on Thursday against a very good Cardinals team.

The Cardinals come into Thursday 27-5 on the season, but two of those losses came against top-ranked Pitt.

They were playing well to end the season as they had won nine straight matches, but they fell to Pitt and Stanford to end the regular season. Despite those losses they still got one of the top seeds in the tournament.

They had little trouble in their first match of the tournament as they swept Chicago State, but they were nearly upset in their second match against Northern Iowa.

The Panthers took the first and third sets and looked primed for an upset, but lost the fourth set 25-13 and the fifth set 22-20. The Cardinals did just enough to survive, but will have to play better against the Boilermakers if they want to win.
