On Wednesday night, No. 9 Wisconsin will travel to New Jersey to take on unranked Rutgers at Jersey Mike’s Arena as the teams square off in a Big Ten match in women’s college volleyball. The Scarlet Knights bring an overall record of 5-8 into the contest, but have been blanked in Big Ten play thus far and are currently 0-2 against conference opponents. The team has dropped its last two matches with the most recent being a five-set battle against Michigan in Ann Arbor on Sunday. For the first time in program history, Rutgers took an early 2-0 lead over Michigan, but the Wolverines fought back to win in a reverse sweep. Alissa Kinkela led offensively and defensively for Rutgers, finishing the night with 24 kills and 14 digs for her third double-double of the year.

The Badgers bring an overall record of 7-4 into Wednesday night’s game and are currently sitting in the middle of the pack in the Big Ten standings with a record of 1-1 in conference play. Last week in the Big Ten opener, the team dropped a five set match to No. 18 Minnesota, but bounced back to beat Northwestern in straight sets on Saturday. The team hit for .413 overall and was led by Sarah Franklin, who finished the match with 11 kills. Behind strong defense and Lola Schumacher’s team-leading eight digs, the Badgers held the Wildcats to just .067 hitting to earn their first Big Ten win.

When Rutgers and Wisconsin met last season in Madison, the Badgers made quick work of the Scarlet Knights, winning in straight sets.
