Team USA will host Brazil for a pair of international friendly matches over the next three games in women’s soccer action.

The United States will welcome Brazil to SoFi Stadium on Saturday for a historic matchup as it will be the first professional women’s sporting event to take place at the Los Angeles Chargers’ field. The game should be an exciting one for multiple reasons, but none bigger than the fact that it will be a gold medal rematch from the 2024 Paris Olympics in which the Americans won 1-0 to take the gold for the first time in eight years. Saturday’s match will be the first of 2025 for the Brazilians. The squad’s last game took place in early December against Australia and resulted in a 2-1 victory. With legendary forward Marta retiring from international play, Brazil will look to Gabi Portilho and Jhennifer to power the offense against the USWNT on Saturday.

The United States has its work cut out as a slew of the squad’s stars are out of the lineup for Saturday. Center back Naomi Girma is out with a calf strain, Tierna Davidson recently tore her ACL, Mallory Swanson is out for personal reasons and Sophia Wilson nee Smith is on maternity leave as she is expecting her first child. The good news is that the April camp roster has an average age of 25-years-old which puts youth on the team’s side.

The USWNT will be looking to bounce back from a 2-1 loss to Japan in the SheBelieves Cup final in February, marking the first loss under head coach Emma Hayes which broke a 16 game undefeated streak and broke a five year win streak for the United States in its own tournament.

Tune in Saturday night to see if the United States is able to pull off the win against Brazil with a young squad and a home fan base in Los Angeles.
