Yale (20-7) won the Ivy League regular-season title in a runaway, finishing 13-1 in league play to secure the top seed for the conference tournament. On Saturday, the Bulldogs open the Ivy League tourney with a semifinal matchup against No. 4 seed Princeton (19-10) at Pizzitola Sports Center in Providence, Rhode Island. The Tigers finished 8-6 in league play and lost a tiebreaker with Dartmouth to land in the fourth spot. Yale is looking for its first-ever consecutive NCAA tournament trips after winning a first-round game a season ago. Princeton’s last tourney bid resulted in a stunning Sweet Sixteen appearance as a No. 15 seed in 2023. The winner faces the survivor of the Dartmouth-Cornell semifinal game on Sunday.

The Bulldogs bounced back from their lone Ivy League loss with a 70-61 win at Brown on March 8. John Poulakidas scored 27 points while Bez Mbeng finished with 13 points and four steals. Poulakidas is the top scorer at 19.3 points per game, with Nick Townsend averaging 15.4 points and 7.1 rebounds and Mbeng putting up 13.4 points and 5.9 assists a night.

The Tigers locked up a conference tourney bid on March 8 with a 95-71 pummeling of visiting Penn. Blake Peters dropped in 25 points and Xaivian Lee’s triple-double included 23 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds. Lee averages 17.0 points and 5.4 assists while Caden Pierce books 11.3 points and 7.3 boards per game.

Princeton leads the series 154-101 after a Yale sweep during the regular season. The Bulldogs won 77-70 on the road on Jan. 31 before an 84-57 blowout at home on Feb. 15. James Jones is 416-318 in his 26th season at Yale while Mitch Henderson has a 251-132 mark in his 13th season with the Tigers.
