York United is 5-1-1 through seven games, which is good for 16 points in the standings. Although six of the other seven teams have only played five or six games, no other team has more than two wins or eight points so far.
Pacific extended its run last week with a 2-1 win over FC Edmonton. The pace of the game was dominated heavily by Pacific, which possessed the ball for 61% of the 90 minutes, recorded an 81% pass accuracy, and had seven corner kicks to Edmonton’s two.
Forward Alejandro Díaz Liceága got the scoring started in that one, finding the back of the net in the 10th minute. That was Díaz Liceága’s fifth tally of the year, while no other player in the league has more than three.
York United has split six games evenly this season at 2-2-2. They came up just short last time out, with a 1-0 loss to Valor on Sunday. Goalie Niko Giantsopoulos made three saves in that game, and now has 14 on the season. That ranks 5th in the CPL.
