League-leading Toronto visits Boston on Thursday night as the Professional Women’s Hockey League returns to action after world championships.

Previously in the Professional Women’s Hockey League, Toronto (13-6-0, 36 points) stormed to the top of the standings with an 11-game winning streak that ended on March 23 in its final game before the break for the women’s world championships. On Thursday, Toronto visits Boston (8-9-2, 22 points) as the PWHL returns to action at the Tsongas Center in nearby Lowell. Boston is five points out of the final playoff spot, standing in fifth place with five games remaining. Toronto holds a slim one-point lead over Minnesota for the top seed and choice of opponents for the semifinals. The regular-season champion receives a 24-hour window in which to determine whether it wants to face the No. 3 or No. 4 seed to open the postseason.

Kristen Campbell logs the vast majority of time in net, going 12-5-0 thus far with a .920 save percentage and 2.06 goals-against average.

Boston has struggled to score, netting a league-low 38 goals in 19 games thus far. Alina Müller’s 13 points tops the club while Loren Gable, Hilary Knight, Hannah Brandt and Taylor Girard share the team lead with four goals each. Aerin Frankel, 5-6-2 between the pipes, owns a .927 save percentage and 2.08 GAA.

Toronto leads the season series 3-1 entering the final meeting on Thursday, winning in Boston 5-3 on Feb. 14 and taking 3-1 and 2-1 decisions at home on March 6 and 20, respectively. Boston’s lone win came in the first meeting in Toronto on Jan. 17, a 3-2 victory.
