Shopworn
Lovely waitress Kitty Lane (Barbara Stanwyck) is all set to marry the rich and debonair David Livingston (Regis Toomey). But David's snobbish mother, Helen (Clara Blandick), doesn't want her son consorting with Kitty's kind, so she pulls some strings with her powerful friends and has the young woman sent to jail. When Kitty gets out, she takes a singing gig in a nightclub and skyrockets to fame. David tracks Kitty down and tries to rekindle things, while Helen works on a new scheme to deter him.

From Here to Eternity

Hard-hearted Capt. Holmes (Philip Ober) subjects Prew to a grueling series of punishments while, unknown to Holmes, the gruff but fair Sgt. Warden (Burt Lancaster) engages in a clandestine affair with the captain's mistreated wife (Deborah Kerr).

Set in the Libyan desert in 1942 where a group of American soldiers become isolated in their tank during the retreat to El Alamein. As they drive across the desert they pick up a group of Allied stragglers, but with their supplies of fuel, food and water running low, they try to reach a desert fortress, but a large German detachment is also heading there.

A pushy pessimist with an eye for the finer things in life, Harriet (Rosalind Russell) has married Walter Craig (John Boles) because he is able to provide the kind of posh lifestyle she is certain she deserves. But when her husband gets a scare involving the police, Harriet's way of life is threatened.
