A Man for All Seasons
When the highly respected British statesman Sir Thomas More (Paul Scofield) refuses to pressure the Pope into annulling the marriage of King Henry VIII (Robert Shaw) and his Spanish-born wife, More's clashes with the monarch increase in intensity. A devout Catholic, More stands by his religious principles and moves to leave the royal court. Unfortunately, the King and his loyalists aren't appeased by this, and press forward with grave charges of treason, further testing More's resolve.

Sailors Joe (Dick Haymes) and Skip (Ray McDonald) habitually take advantage of their shipmate, Moby (Mickey Rooney), who's robbed after they take him to a shady bar. When they have no money to go to Catalina Island, Calif., Joe arranges their travel by volunteering the clueless Moby to work on the ship. Skip later meets a glamorous dancer (Peggy Ryan), while Joe woos a nightclub owner (Jody Lawrance). Moby decides to leave, but finds himself coming to the rescue of a beautiful heiress.
Boots Malone
Has-been agent Boots Malone (William Holden) is dodging his creditors and living on the edge of the horse racing world when wealthy teenager Tommy Gibson (Johnny Stewart) asks Malone to take him under his wing as a jockey-in-training. Lovely waitress Kitty Lane (Barbara Stanwyck) is all set to marry the rich and debonair David Livingston (Regis Toomey). But David's snobbish mother, Helen (Clara Blandick), doesn't want her son consorting with Kitty's kind, so she pulls some strings with her powerful friends and has the young woman sent to jail. When Kitty gets out, she takes a singing gig in a nightclub and skyrockets to fame. David tracks Kitty down and tries to rekindle things, while Helen works on a new scheme to deter him.

In the Pacific after the war, a U.S. Marine unit that includes Sgt. Phil O'Hara (Aldo Ray) is awaiting discharge when missionary Alfred Davidson (Jose Ferrer), physician Dr. Robert McPhail (Russell Collins) and singer Sadie Thompson (Rita Hayworth) arrive at the base. The soldiers are delighted by the spirited, friendly Sadie, and Phil falls in love with her. Davidson, however, unearths a secret in Sadie's past and, blocking her attempt to leave the island, demands that she repent.
The Awful Truth
Jerry (Cary Grant) and Lucy (Irene Dunne) are a married couple who doubt each other's fidelity: Jerry suspects Lucy and her music teacher (Alexander D'Arcy) of spending an evening together, and Lucy is convinced Jerry lied about a business trip. When the jealous pair file for divorce, both rush into new relationships, but quickly realize their love never died. The soon-to-be-divorced husband and wife then both scramble to spoil each other's chances for newfound romance.
