In the 1950s American South, the vicious and conniving Eva Phillips (Joan Crawford) makes the lives of those around her miserable -- especially her husband, Avery (Barry Sullivan), who resorts to heavy drinking and becomes an alcoholic. Meanwhile, when Eva discovers her sister-in-law (Betsy Palmer) is to wed her former lover (John Ireland), she really becomes nasty. Witnessing Eva's cruel exploits is Avery's cousin, Jennifer Stewart (Lucy Marlow), who can only stand by, mortified.

Robert (Jack Lemmon) and Nina Tracy (Judy Holliday) were once a happy couple, but eight years of marriage has taken a toll on their relationship. They decide to call it quits and get a divorce. American Madness

During the Depression, the bank owned by generous Dickson (Walter Huston) is barely staying afloat, and things get worse when $100,000 is lifted from the vault. Fingers are pointed at reformed crook Matt (Pat O'Brien), who got a job and a fresh start from Dickson. The innocent Matt can clear his name by admitting that on the night of the robbery he was breaking up a tryst between Dickson's wife and another teller. But this revelation may crush Dickson, and Matt's conscience plays tug-of-war.

When the tiny nation of Grand Fenwick's only export, a special wine, begins to be produced in California, their entire economy collapses. Posted in France, Pvt. Hogan (Jack Lemmon) falls hard for Betty Bixby (Kathryn Grant), a nurse who happens to be a lieutenant, which means they are forbidden to fraternize due to their ranks. Always one to skirt the rules, Hogan, with the help of his friend Cpl. Bohun (Dick York), cooks up a scheme to throw a clandestine ball for all the soldiers and nurses. But the two have their work cut out for them when the authoritative Capt. Paul Lock (Ernie Kovacs) starts breathing down their necks.

It Should Happen to You

After two years of failing to make it big in New York City, small-town model and actress Gladys Glover (Judy Holliday) takes a gamble by investing in billboard advertising to get her name out there. Almost immediately her risk pays off, and she finds herself inundated with media requests and fans, including the affections of the wealthy Evan Adams III (Peter Lawford) of the Adams Soap company. While Glover enjoys the spotlight, her boyfriend (Jack Lemmon) is less pleased about it.

Pushover

In the wake of a bank heist, Paul Sheridan is part of a team of cops assigned to recover the stolen $200,000. They stake out the apartment of Lona McLane, the girlfriend of one of the robbers, and before long Paul and Lona begin a steamy affair. Lona persuades Paul to kill her boyfriend so that the two of them can escape with the money, but, in order to pull it off, Paul first has to trick his boss and fellow detectives.

Advertising executive William Weldon (Franchot Tone) narrowly averts career implosion when his clever wife, Margaret (Lucille Ball), helps him save an important advertising account. But tensions run high in the Weldon household after William's fast-talking employer, J.B. Cruikshank (Edward Everett Horton), invites Margaret to work for him too. The cunning couple must compete with each other to write a campaign for Emil Glinka (Mikhail Rasumny) -- a mad scientist with an alarming new product.
