Dreamer George Lester (Jerry Lewis) continually focuses on outrageous ways to make cash, and his fed-up wife, Pamela (Jacqueline Pearce), finally decides to leave him. At the turn of the 20th century, young Asa Yoelson (Scotty Beckett) decides to go against the wishes of his cantor father (Ludwig Donath) and pursue a career in show business.
